This is a must. To not allow this feature borders on corruption.

What is the point of the best computer company releasing a phone that can't connect their own computers to the internet.

All well and good a MacBook Pro can take a 3G card, which costs a whole bunch extra, but what about a MacBook and MacBook Air, usb dongles SUCK and look terrible, i freaking hate them, if my Nokia 6210, Sony Ericsson P910i and Samsung U700 can do it why not an Apple iPhone, in South Africa ALL Mobile Networks encourage using your phone as a modem and we ALL pay per MB so come on guys, let us use this hot phone with our Macs and PCs to get online.

I'm the biggest Apple Fan, but seriously, GET WITH IT!

There is every reason to be able to connect to my desktop or laptop via bluetooth com port and send a fax via phone call to any fax machine in the world. I can call call a fax machine and hear the signals with my iPhone: so should my computer.

We don't even have ATT in this country! I thought this phone had modem features in it when I bought it - thats one of the factors that justified the buy. I don't use GPRS on the laptop enough to justify installing it but I need it enough that I have to have it. iPhone was the middle ground that was supposed to allow the occasional download of a spreadsheet into the laptop while traveling and justify the snazzy iPhone. Very disappointed, holding back on rest of staff until rectified.

My old phone allowed me to download traffic updates to my TomTom Rider. Is it that difficult to provide equivalent support to the iPhone? I seriously regret buying it now :-(

Hopefully you(APPLE) only made a 2 year deal with AT&T, because the iPhone is totally capable of serving as a modem through Bluetooth Pan services. My cheapie Samsung T905 had full Bluetooth support, and it isn't even a 1/4 as powerful or functional as my iPhone.

Magnus Frostlid - Stockholm, Sweden

This was something I expected of iPhone 3G! I pay a lot for a free data plan with no limitation in what traffic/hardware to use (operator: Swedish Telia) and expect to be able to use that also from my laptop when I'm on the run - without moving the sim card to another phone just for that reason. Turn on the DUN bluetooth profile - it's as easy as that.

Note that not everyone has AT&T. The world is a lot larger than just United States. Let the rest of us use this function even if AT&T prevents it.
